Here is the November 2010 report on our work on the Mosquito.
The windscreen and canopy glazing is all complete now with the final stages of the escape hatch finished. The sliding windows are both working well and should be watertight. The main glass at 40mm thick looks great.
With the gear doors complete we have turned our attention to the rear upper panels of the nacelles and have begun the job of wheeling up these skins. It has gone pretty well and we should be finished all four panels next month.
We have completed the installation of the main pneumatic air receivers and these are fitted into the rear fuselage and plumbed into the system. We only have the brake circuit operational at present and we are pleased to say it holds pressure (after we fixed a few little leaks)
We have begun the remanufacture of the forward canon panel. It requires a new skin but we will be able to reuse the stainless shrouds again after some panel beating.
We have refurbished the left hand forward cowl dishpan and this is now in primer ready to be top coated. We have sourced a second panel from the local museum a
in a trade and will have that one ready for paint next month.
We have continued with the plumbing of the engine nacelles. A large number of pipes are run across the forward face of the front spar and these are progressing slowly. The vacuum and fuel transfer air supply pipes are the first to be completed.
We have set up the port radiator support structure temporarily to allow us to complete the woodwork at the fuselage where the radiator structure attaches. We are happy with the way it all has fitted up and we can now progress this side as well with the pipes out to the engine.
Work has continued on the # 5 fuel tanks and these are nearing completion.
