Here is the July 2008 report on our work on the Mosquito.
1. Following on from assembling the wing to fuselage we have permanently joined the parts together. We have installed the fuselage side panels, which go below the wing and form the sides of the fuselage that are removable to allow the wing to be installed. These panels are bolted to the bottom of the wing and the fuselage sides and support the bomb and gun bay doors. We have also installed the eyebolts in No. 1 wing ribs for the bomb door jack beam and the 20mm canon mount beams.
2. Work is now complete on the left aileron. We have fabricated anew trim tab where required, balanced the entire assembly and trial fitted it to the wing.
3. We have finished installing the countersunk bolts up through the wheel well ribs and permanently bolted the U/C retract ram attachment cross tubes into the rear of the wheel wells.
4. We have fitted the removable panel in the navigators floor. Check fitted and aligned the navigators back armour which incorporates the fuel shutoff controls.
5. We have installed the lower eye bolts into the wing main spar and the fixing packers that hold the wing radiator structure supporting struts. We have also fitted the fixed sections of the undercarriage assembly into the wheel wells. This will allow us in due course to continue work on the firewalls.
6. We have begun the overhaul of the engine bearers and associated componentry in anticipation of the return of the first engine from overhaul.
